Greek Fest, Part 2

RJA did not show for Greek Fest, but Serdic was unexpectedly in town and available, and came out with Wolfgang and my lovely wife and I for another pass at Greek Fest. It was fairly busy, and since Wolfgang was 'tired' from last night, he wasn't the sparkling conversationalist he can be. Regardless, I had a good time, and ate my fill. I bought a bottle of red wine expecting to share it, but only my lovely wife partook of a glass, so I ended up drinking most of it.

We got Wolfgang a shot of ouzo but he only drank about a sip. My lovely wife took a much larger sip and then I downed the rest, shaking my head in disgust with his lack of gumption. I also had a cup of Greek Coffee, which if you haven't had it, is basically like a pot of normal coffee served in a cup 1/3 the size of a normal cup. Yowza. When you finish the coffee, there's a sludge on the bottom of the cup that you could use to resurface a highway. Good stuff.

The Zorba Dancers flew in a Master Zorba Dance Instructor from Greece for the festivities tonight. He did some pretty cool things with a chair and they ended the bit with him dancing in a ring of fire. They capped it off with the plate-breaking thing that they do, but this time they broke the plates above the Master's head, letting the fragments fall all around him. Overall, I give it a rating of 9.5 out of 10, factoring in the bonus for fire.

We also checked out Wolfgang's apartment, which is pretty nice. I like his building. It's not a huge apartment but it's a decent size and his room in particular is rather large. He seems to be pretty well equipped.

I got to play with his new MacBook. I love, love, love the magnetic latch and power cord. The screen is 13" but the aspect is different than my G4, with more width and less height, and overall feeling somewhat smaller. I don't like the new keyboard style at all. It's useable but it doesn't feel right. I could get used to it, but I suspect that it would prove a continual minor background irritation which would eventually degenerate into a major psychotic hatred.

I was planning on getting a MacBook to replace my iBook, down the road, but now I'm thinking I might have to go with a MacBook Pro, just for the keyboard and screen real-estate. The fact that I can dual-boot windows and play Civ4 anywhere in the house would be a big bonus.

After we dropped off Serdic and Wolfgang, I spent some time chatting with RJA about his recent odyssey beyond sleep and normal human cognition. The post is on his blog, it's quite entertaining. He doesn't drink so I've never seen him drunk, but I would imagine this is pretty close to what it would be like.
