The Winter of our Discount Tent

Saturday we had been lined up to help Foran Object with the construction of his new woodworking workshop, the first step towards which involved burying tubes and shoveling earth. As it happens it rained like a bitch and we had to cancel. Fortunately, other than the weekend of the 7th of October, my time is pretty flexible so it won't be a problem to help out whenever the weather decides to be more compliant. Serdic was already en route, and being a non-cellphone type, I had to wait until he arrived to inform him of the cancellation. As it happens though, the Dutch Nasty phoned and proposed that we all go out to breakfast, so no worries.

Serdic arrived; he, my lovely wife and I all went over to the Nasty's, and then with his lovely wife and wee Peanut, we went to a greasy spoon for breakfast. I had steak and eggs. It was good.

Incidentally, it's amazing how much the Nasty has improved his domicile with his renovations. It's looking pretty amazing.

That afternoon our awesome neighbour tried to pick up a truckload of earth for our lawn (we are tearing it down and starting from scratch), but the place was closed due to rain. So that didn't pan out either. Damn you, nature! (shakes fist at the sky)

I ended up adding all my basic land to my magic card spreadsheet. Turns out I have 1,144 basic land cards, which by any measure is somewhat excessive. But just somewhat.

Sunday I got a call from the Greek. His lovely fiancee was going to be making him spicy pickles and recommended he go hang out with me while she did so. We ran a few errands, hit Jack Astor's for lunch, and then went back to the Ranch to look through pictures. Some of them were from our initial forays into diving or more recent events, but the majority were from our trip to Greece. That's really something we need to do again some time.

It was a great way to spend an afternoon.

My cold is gradually losing its grip upon me. I'm still congested but I'm not hurting or anything. I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (touch wood). Of course, I've said that before.
