Weekend

My Neighbour and a Flat Tire

My neighbour is awesome. I just wanted to say that.

Yesterday, during the course of doing SFA, I got a knock on the door. It was my neighbour, bearing grim tidings; he'd noticed that the passenger's side front tire of our car was flat. We took a look at it and decided to pop on the donut and take it to the shop. He brought out is Mastercraft jack so we wouldn't need to use the not-entirely-spectacular one that came with the car, and I swapped out the tire for the donut.

The car looked ridiculous with the donut on it. I eagerly anticipate the day when they drop the pretense and just put an actual bicycle tire in the trunk.

We took it to Wal-Mart, and then spent an hour and a half wandering around the Centrum. We got some coffee at Chapters, took a look around Future Shop ... not too bad but still not how I was planning on spending my afternoon. When we got back to the shop we found out that it was already fixed, but they couldn't figure out how to start the car to put the tire back on (it has a security system) and they couldn't figure out how to use the cell phone number we left with them.

Still, they only had to patch it, so it only cost us twenty bucks. Can't argue with that.

When we were changing the tire, we talked with our neighbour about our plans to re-seed our lawn. He told us where he'd gone to get his soil and volunteered to take us there, so we could use his pickup truck to transport the soil. Whenever we wanted to go and do it, just let him know.

We really lucked out to get him as our neighbour.

Baton Rouge

Last night I took my lovely wife to Baton Rouge for dinner. We got there about eight, and the place was packed, but the patio was mostly vacant and it seemed like a nice night to eat outside, so we did. I had a filet mignon which was about two inches thick and the consistency of butter, and my lovely wife had a combo plate of ribs, shrimp and chicken. Dessert was creme brulee cheesecake and coffee.

Mmmmmm.

Today

Feeling a bit under the weather today. I think it's just that spicy Thai food working its way through my system like an invading Hun army, pillaging and burning as it goes.
