Magic

RJA continues to slowly make his way through my questions.

He expressed an interest in my sparring gear recently. It seems that he, and a friend, are interested in picking up some similar equipment and doing some friendly sparring. Since neither of them have any training or, for that manner, much of an idea of what they're doing, it sounds interesting and I just might throw a few punches at him while we're at it. At any rate, today (per RJA's request) I brought in my gloves and headgear so he could have a look at them.

I also brought in a few cards to help get Serdic going. As he mentioned in his blog, yesterday we stopped in after work at our FLGS and he got three 9th Edition starters (blue, green and white). The core set starters are all 40-card decks, so he's combining them to make two decent sized decks for magic night on Thursday. I looked through my cards and pulled out a few that fit his colours that I'm not likely to miss.

I picked up a few packs for myself while we were there. A couple of things I could use for my Orzhov and BR decks (including an Agent of Masks, which I've been looking for for a while) and, to my surprise and pleasure, a Steam Vents, the RU rare multi-land. That's the fourth of those lands I've gotten and, even better, all four are in colour pairs I like (BU, BG, RW and now RU). That leaves BW as the one multi-land that I would use a lot but don't have. I'll have to wait and see if I manage to pull one, because it's stupid how expensive they are as singles these days.

Battlestar Galactica 2.5 is out, Serdic got his copy today. Gilmore Girls S6 is also out and that we'll have to pick up ourselves, as I don't think I'll be able to borrow a copy from anyone at work. I also noticed that Alias is coming out with a set of all 5 seasons in a special Rambaldi-box package, which is awfully tempting. Interestingly (read: stupidly), amazon.ca sells it for $200, whereas amazon.com sells it for $140. Why wouldn't I just order it from the US? Am I missing something here?
