I am still sick. I thought I was getting better and then my throat started to hurt. Then last night I started having sinus problems again, this time with the added bonus of nasty ear pressure.
This is my excuse for not posting much this week. I am sickly. Sigh.
Magic Night
Magic night at Serdic's. Null, Serdic and myself were all playing, and Wade, a co-worker who lives in Serdic's building, came by to spectate. My R/W Boros deck worked as well as I'd expected, but the other decks I played were big surprises. I played a B/U deck, and normally I'd aim for frustration with that colour pair, but I usually just got my ass handed to me; so this time I built it to survive -- lots of creatures, not so much with the milling or permission. It turned out to be monstrously frustrating, especially for Null, who watched me play half his deck with an Ornate Kanzashi.
Then I broke out my G/U Simic graft deck, which I'd built on a whim and which I didn't think I had nearly enough cards to do properly. I figured I'd get steamrolled, but whatever. Luckily my Cytoplast Manipulator and a Privileged Position came out early and, again, I ended up taking over every creature Null and Serdic put out. Null did some deep black magic with a pair of Clones to get two creatures in play that I couldn't take over (clones copying vesuvan doppelgangers I'd already taken from him, copying Plaxcaster Froglings, which can make themselves and each other untargetable). He held out for a while thanks to a timely series of Meekstones.
I need to figure out if protection stops you from having counters moved to you via graft.
Serdic did very very well with his new G/W and W/U decks. He was very competitive in all the games, outlasted Null in one occasion and won one game after I popped the Time Bomb to clear the table rather than go out quietly. Top of the world, ma!
Appliances
We got our microwave gratis when we got the house. We needed one and didn't have one, so getting one for free exactly when we needed it worked out really well. But it's time to get that thing replaced. Often you'll turn it on but it won't think the door is quite closed, so the timer will start but nothing will happen, and you'll have to hit the door to make it click. It's a pain in the ass. Yes, I do believe a new microwave is called for.
Comedy Gold
Last night at magic night we brought up the subject of RJA's answers to my blog questions, particularly the card of five names. This required us to explain who Katelin is, which led us to watch RJA's famous (infamous?) response to the Huge Mistake podcast and the half-your-age-plus-seven rule (which, incidentally, I heard for the first time one day prior while camping, from a completely unrelated source). This has subsequently lead to a great deal of amusing commentary on this subject, which I'm not going to repeat here as it is uncouth.
OMG!
Foran Object just dropped off something amazing. His lovely wife acquired season 6 of Gilmore Girls, and since she's seen it she volunteered to lend it to us so we could watch it. It isn't even opened, and she's giving it to us to watch. That's just amazing. Seriously, you have no idea how excited my lovely wife is going to be.
I get some static on occasion for liking this show, but seriously, it's awesome. I can't wait.

Gilmore girls??!
I never want slack again for watching Sex in the City (still the best show, ever!)
Seriously?
Gilmore Girls?
It's confirmed. We thought they were earrings but apparently those ARE your testicles in her purse....
(And Tas - Sex in the City rocks, not girls - lots of sex!)
