That Just Happened

The geek content on this one is pretty high.

We Pump (clap) You Up

Our efforts to get a place squared away for the new weight bench generously donated by the Greek continue. My wife continues to be amazing regarding all the changes and work required to make this happen.

We went shopping for some kind of padding or mats to put under the thing, and ended up having to go to 2 different Fitness Depots to find what we needed -- which is huge, and stinks to high heaven. We're hoping the smell goes away.

We're also trying to locate 6'x4' worth of that plastic sheeting with the little knobby bumps that you put under office chairs.

After shopping we ate a quick meal of Greek on Wheels while watching Stargate, and then rearranged the family room. The 7.1 speaker set is presently running at 3.1 due to our reluctance to have wires trailed all over the place; we're looking into running them across the ceiling for an eventual 5.1 setup, as the extra two speakers don't do much anyway, near as I can tell.

The new family room layout does dramatically increase the sense of openness and space in the room. I'm not sure how much the new equipment will change that, once it gets into place. I'm hoping everything will work out ok.

Grooming

I got a haircut. It was desperately needed.

I'm going gray at the temples. Not a spring chicken anymore, I guess.

Oh My God, The Greed

My second order arrived today, the day after they said they'd be shipping it. I didn't get dinged for anything at the border, either. Sweet!

I pulled a lot of cards which look fun, exciting, dangerous or otherwise worthy of note. I also picked up one of the two 10th Anniversary sets, which come in a little metal tin designed to hold one deck in heavy cover sleeves (so I may be able to fit 2 normal vamp decks w/o sleeves in it). The tin also contains 100 reprinted cards from the first few sets of the game, about 70 of which are vampires, many of which are in Null's collection and in which form I've ogled them. They're all in the new-style frames, though, which is neat.

I got most of the new vamps into sleeves before I ran out. Need to pick up another box. I should buy stock on the company that makes those things. Good thing I'm getting a really good deal on them at the local game store.

Improvised Game Night

Everybody had stuff to do after work so we gathered at or shortly after 7. Prime was actually the first to arrive. Serdic brought lots of beer (good beer, too) and Null brought wings. We played one game of Vampire, which got finished at or about 9, which is pretty good time for a four person game (for us).

The table layout was me (Gangrel toolbox) -> Prime (!Brujah Intercept) -> Serdic (Ishtarri bleed/vote) -> Null (Camarilla heavy vote). Null got me down to 2 pool before Serdic ousted him, and then ousted me. Null and I then went off to eat wings. Don't get between Serdic and his wings, guys -- he ended up ousting Prime for game win and 4 VPs.

The Gangrel deck didn't have enough intercept or vote defence. Same story as with my Assamites. One of these days I'll learn. It was pretty bad this time, though; in my last six turns I basically untapped two vampires, doing nothing for four turns and being forced (by Null's political actions) to skip 2 turns.

The decks need work! I think I'll keep my Guruhi voting deck together but the other two are probably coming apart. I kinda want to build a !Ventrue deck which has some bleed/redirect and serious vote power. Maybe I've just spent two games too many being taken to the woodshed by Null's voting machine.

I kinda want to build a Baali deck. Just because.

Eye Candy

As promised!

What an interesting looking weapon! Any guesses as to what it is?

Is it a zeppelin?

It's a tank designed for use on an Aircraft Carrier. My logic goes something like this: fighter jets on Carrier's have twin engines (at least the F-14 does/did). Therefore a tank on an aircraft carrier would have twin barrels. That one in the photo clearly has twin barrels, so OBVIOUSLY it's designed for use on an aircraft-carrier.
