It isn't easy to come up with interesting and appropriate titles for these blog posts, so I've decided to pack it in and just use random phrases for my titles. I'm on a kick of using song lyrics at the moment. It's quite possible that I will sometimes choose titles to be reflective upon, and eerily accentuating of, the content of the post. Possible, but not likely.
I could just be messing with you. It's the sort of thing I'd do.
Curling
Curling with TeamHooking and the Rocket was a blast. TeamHooking has the energy of about twelve normal sized people packed into a smaller than normal sized package. She did very well for someone who hadn't done it before. The Rocket and I drank beer and provided moral support, which I'm happy to say we did excellently.
Elections
The people of the various municipalities of Ontario got out to vote yesterday. We managed to make our mark in favour of democracy and the bloodless transition of power before heading off to curling. We got to wait in a huge line -- the only line in the place -- and then had an elderly volunteer explain the intricacies of filling in a circle with a pen, as if the accompanying illustration wasn't sufficient. Even better, he then gave the exact same laborious speech to my lovely wife despite the fact that she was standing right beside me for the first one.
Anyway, we got to vote for mayor and councillor, but not school board trustee as he/she was acclaimed, which is certainly much more efficient than that whole "democracy" thing. Then we got to watch on the big TV, after curling was done, as they announced that the mayor of Ottawa is now Daddy Warbucks.
Various Card Games
The people who make EVE Online -- a big multiplayer spaceship computer game which I have not played and am not particularily inclined to try -- have brought out a card game based on the same franchise. It looks remarkably pretty, and it seems to have an interesting set of rules which include dynamics and resources which are not commonly found in the genre. I'm looking forward to adding it to our assembly of card games for Game Night.

Sexual.
Optimist Prime has volunteered to set us up for a game of Star Trek CCG if we're so inclined. I don't remember it as being particularily exciting the one time I played it, a million years ago, but I'm certainly willing to give it a go.
I also pulled out my Babylon 5 deck -- Minbari, natch -- but I only have the one deck so I don't anticipate a whole lot of B5 gaming on Game Night.
The next Magic Booster Draft is still on for Sunday, under the assumption that Null will be back on our balmy shores. It may yet get pushed back, but so far all signs are go.
Shopping
Unusually, I have a pretty good handle on what to get my lovely wife for xmas this year, and tomorrow after work I will be taking the opportunity to put my forethought into practice.
Also unusually, I am having problems thinking of things that I really want for xmas this year. Normally I am an obsessively selfish asshole, so I'm not sure what's up with that.
Dramatis Personae
The other day I was recounting to RJA the sordid tale of Foran Object's outstanding drunkenness at an xmas party at his place, once upon a time. It was an amusing tale which made me miss the big lug, gone travelling the world as he is.
Serdic's date seems to have gone superbly. We're all very excited about it.
The Dutch Nasty remains particularily Dutch.
RJA remains RJA. (The R stands for Robot. Don't know if you know that, but it does.)
