Friday
I got the pile of earth which was our lawn taken care of. The last of the old surfacing was removed, the earth pile was moved around with a shovel and then smoothed out with a rake. There's work to be done, but the heavy lifting has been taken care of. Unfortunately the weather all weekend has been shitty so the last mile is yet to be walked. But at least it's looking lawn-like.

Saturday morning I went in for the basic and then grappling classes. Basic class was fun; grappling was non-stop standing grappling practice, going from clinch position to clinch position. The second person I had to grapple with was significantly larger than myself which meant I was even more worn out than usual by the end of that match. By the eighth match, I was pretty much done. I am already sore as all get-out, and tomorrow is going to be worse.

Dinner at the Rocket's place was a blast. Before we left we got a call from the Rocket asking if we had a blender, as TeamHooking had plans regarding cocktails which required one. Then we got another call asking if we had a potato masher, because apparently the Rocket doesn't have one of those either. No worries, buddy, we got you covered.
Dinner was an excellently cooked hunk of lamb with very nice mint jelly, garlic mashed potatoes, carrots, broccoli, and other vegetables which honestly didn't really stick in my memory because, you know, vegetables. Everything was excellent and there was plenty of it.
The evening was attended by The Rocket and TeamHooking, my lovely wife and I, and a couple we hadn't met yet, who shall be known henceforth as MyCheeksHurt and LongLocks. The subject of blogging came up, so they may well end up reading this blog post, since the Rocket praised my humble blog in quite extravagant terms. (MyCheeksHurt has a myspace account where she talks about cheerleading, and apparently this can result in real cheerleaders sending in photographs of questionable content to you. I think I might need to open a myspace account in the guise of a teenaged girl cheerleader ... just like everybody else on myspace.)
I asked TeamHooking if she'd seen the post where I mentioned the entymology of the name 'bubbles', and she threw a piece of bread at me. I guess she read it, then.
After dinner there was a pumpkin carving contest -- we did the Pumpkin of the Opera -- and then more drinking, and Twister. I am the Twister king. Just FYI.
It was a lot of fun.
When the Rocket sends me a copy of the picture we took of the pumpkin lineup, I'll post it here.
The Morning After
Beer, beer, beer, quite a bit of wine, beer, scotch, beer ... you see where this is going.
My lovely wife was running errands today while I was sitting on my ass feeling awful, and had to navigate a field of idiocy and rudeness like you wouldn't believe. Apparently everyone with a bad attitude was working today.
And tomorrow is Monday. I could use another day or two of weekend. More so than usual.

Yeah, I found that assholes anonymous held a meeting at everystore I went to. Full aisles were blocked by people who were just standing there and talking and ignoring the polite, excuse me.
