Game Night Recap

I caught a ride with Serd and W to his apartment after work. We dropped off W before going for food and beer; when I opened the car's door the wind pulled it right out of my hand. Wild.

So I surfed the weeb while Serd made stir-fry. A bit later on Prime arrived and we got in a game of Vampire. I was playing Guruhi votey-toolbox, bleeding Serd with a !Brujah starter, bleeding Prime with his mixed toolbox deck. It was a well fought game, but Serd managed to put out Prime with his bleeding under pressure from my Guruhi voting. I ousted Serd shortly thereafter, having a growing edge in minions that he couldn't quite overcome.

This was my first outing with my Guruhi and I really enjoyed how they played. Maybe a little bit of tweaking, but not much. I'm actually keen to take this against Null, as I'm interested to see how well it'll handle his vote-heavy offerings. Plus, he's shifty -- you never know what he's going to come up with.

The stir fry, in case you're wondering, was delightful.

Just Call Me Superman

My sister's laptop died on her. She was rather upset, as there was a lot of material on her hard drive that she didn't have backed up and wanted back, but it looked like it was the drive that went. Regardless, I took the drive out of the laptop and took it to work, intent upon seeing what I could recover.

One 44-to-4o-pin EIDE converter and a Linux rescue CD (hat tip to RJA for the suggestion on that one) later, and it turns out the drive isn't actually gone after all. So I got everything off of it before putting it back. There is now a DVD in my possession with three-plus gigs of data on it.

I'm very pleased that my original dire predictions of DOOM proved unfounded in this case.

Still Sick

Frigging Cold

It was in excess of 35 degrees below zero Celcius with wind chill this morning.

Global warming, eh? Uh huh.
