Fooled You!

The Keith's Experience

Serdic joined Mr. and Mrs. Foran Object and my lovely wife and I for the Friday night beerathon. Edly also put in an appearance, enjoying some beer and sharing chocolatey bounty from his European jaunt. He generously picked up some nice Belgian truffles which my wife will no doubt enjoy.

The party was not as wild as it has been in years past, and I was distressingly not-falling-down-drunk when we made our midnight Pizza Pizza run. Foran Object made up the difference, though, enthusiastically taking note of particularily impressive trees along the way.

The Sun Is Shining, The Birds Are Singing

The next morning was not as rough as historically has been the case. For some reason they dropped the fresh fruit from the breakfast roster. Our game at noon went ok, although we got our asses handed to us again; Pigtails really found her groove in that game, though, and threw some very nice rocks.

We were looking at a good two hour break until dinner after that. The Forans returned home to their vast woodland property, to change socks and get insulin. My lovely wife and I walked downtown since it was such an amazingly nice day.

I picked her up some kitchen gadgets in a cool little kitchen store, including a funky ice cream scoop (175% funkier than our current one), a garlic slicing machine (manual) and a lemon slice squeezer (squeeze by the slice!).

We then hit the downtown game store so I could get some Sword of Caine boosters (the new Vampire set that just came out). I also got a map pack for Kill Dr. Lucky, which lets you play on a cruise ship or a hotel which is burning down. While we were there my lovely wife pointed out they'd probably have Axis & Allies, and we checked and discovered that they did; and what is more, they had it for the low, low price of $48! So, A&A is now firmly on the schedule for an upcoming game night.

Our final game of the night was against a very pleasant quartet and was a lot of fun, although my lovely wife was in some serious pain -- her leg was not doing well and curling was only making things worse. This game also saw me pull off my one good shot of the weekend, the only one in which I did something non-trivial exactly as I'd intended. It looked good, too. Too bad I sucked the rest of the spiel.

We had drinks while they did the awards, entertaining the team we'd just played against. We managed to come dead last in the standings, which I don't think we've done before -- I'm under the impression that we usually come second last. Oh well. Gives us room to improve.

The spiel was, as usual, a whole lot of fun, and it was great to get Serdic and Edly out for drinks. The Foran Objects were a blast to curl with, too.

More Weekend to Come

Today has mostly been sitting around, playing computer games, playing with my Vampire cards, and not doing anything productive. My Vampire collection has migrated from one 1.5" binder and two 2" binders, to a set of four 2" binders. I also need to buy more sleeve sheets, sigh.

The one productive thing I did was put together the new office furniture set my lovely wife picked up for her business. Unfortunately her laptop is still toast, so it doesn't do her much good at the moment, but hopefully we'll eventually be able to get her set up there again. It does look a lot more like an office than it used to. She has a mini filing cabinet and everything.

Tomorrow I have off. I'm not going to work. I don't plan on missing it at all, either.

It was a very impressive tree, to be sure. Fortunately, I had nothing to be jealous of.
