Pennington's

Tonight, I'm taking my lovely wife to Pennington's, which is one of her favourites, to do some birthday shopping. Other than that, I plan on drinking a Trailhead and relaxing.

RJA was duly grilled about his weekend, and much fun was made of it. If you look carefully you may notice a slight change around here which reflects the mirth which was shared (by most). That's about all I'm going to write about that, as I think we've had about our fill.

Foran Object has started a blog, which I have duly added to the link list. He's a very cool guy and deeply versed in such disparate and eclectic subjects as the lifecycles and tending of vegetation, the keeping of piscine critters, and the crafting of lovely furniture and other objects, and I have no doubt that his blog will continue to be as entertaining as its initial entries have been. I just feel sorry that his first day with blogger has been on a day in which the system has been dog slow.

I think that maybe I am going to write something about Lebanon. It may be an angry something.

The picture is, as promised, the HMCS Bonaventure, Canada's last honest-to-god aircraft carrier, from an earlier halcyon day when Canadians weren't quite so afraid of (or contemptuous towards) our armed forces and the fine men and women who serve therein. Thankfully, that appears to be changing, if slowly.

We're talking about going camping next weekend. I like camping, in the manner in which we practice it, which is to say, extravagantly. Purists like the Dutch Nasty shudder at the thought of the weight of equipment and supplies we'll bring for a three day stay, but that's the way I like it. It took many thousands of years fighting tooth and nail to bring nature into submission, and I fully intend to keep her there.
