Birthdays

Today is a day of birthdays.

My lovely wife was born on this day in beautiful British Columbia. She's going to decide whether she'd rather go out for dinner tonight, order something in, or have me make something for her. The last option is probably the most romantic but it should be remembered that I am a horrible excuse for a cook. I'd recommend options 1 or 2, roughly in that order, but you can't discount the comedy value of option 3.

Today is also my dad's birthday. Getting to Kingston this weekend would be nice but there's stuff to be done up here, plus now that my sister is resident in my parent's house, and my brother is still living there, there just isn't enough room for us to sleep over. So overnighters are out, for the duration, and I'll have to settle for a call.

In response to the overwhelming feedback, I will drop the update-existing-posts plan and go back to the RSS-friendly, each-post-is-its-own-post approach. The people have spoken.

Finished the book on Winston Churchill and the British in World War 2. My lovely wife picked up a few interesting books from the bargain bin at the mall, the first of which I'm starting next, a historical review of the changes societies go through when they suffer catastrophic defeats at the hands of their enemies. I'm expecting frequent references to the French.

Serdic has started his own blog. Now we just need the Dutch Nasty to start one and the circle shall be complete. I intend to inform him that, in future, I will only be communicating via blog, so he'd better get on the train.

The picture is a Canadian herc at Comox, BC.
