The Third Flower Is Green

1. Colonial Anthem

So. Battlestar Galactica.

(Spoilers ahoy.)

The action sequences were awesome. The callbacks to the theater-house and the Five weren't too hacky. It all sorta fit together okay, and the blowing stuff up and heroism and sacrifice all worked in a very BSG sort of fashion.

Not so sure about the very last part. The ultimate wrap-up of Hera and the connection to humanity and Earth and everything was, well, okay. New York was pushing it pretty far. There was a certain element of the Architect and the Oracle at the end of the Matrix, there, and good lord but that's not something you want to shout out to.

I'm going to do my best to ignore the Hitchhiker's Guide ending and the God stuff and Sony Robotics bringing about Armageddon and just enjoy the 90% of the finale that rocked, because it rocked pretty hard.

Bizarrely, Scifi (I refuse, patently, to refer to it in its new syphillitic shorthand) is doing a BSG movie, not based on or connected to the Ron Moore version, done by Glen Lawson. Given that Glen Lawson's greatest contribution to the medium was to produce something that other talented people turned into something watchable, I'm not exactly holding my breath. What's odd about this is that they didn't even wait until the BSG finale was out to announce this thing.

I assume that they desperately wanted to keep the franchise going (despite their stated aversion to actual, you know, science fiction) but knew that Ron Moore wasn't interested and Glen Lawson still had the theatrical rights so, might as well give him what he wanted.

Whatever.

2. The Third Flower Is Yellow

There was a lot of hype about Dollhouse episode 6, and to my mind, completely justified. The first five episodes left you thinking that there was a good story here, somewhere, but when was he going to get to it? This episode kicked it into high gear. Very high gear.

I knew my faith in you wasn't misplaced, Joss Whedon!

3. Busy Weekend

Very busy weekend. Surprise birthday party for Ladybug; Thai Night with Dougly & the CBC and K&R. Not a lot of sleep, but hey, you can sleep when you're dead.

Also -- green tea ale is best avoided. I do not, unfortunately, recommend.

4. Piggies
