Metrologically Speaking
It's been a gorgeous couple of days. The temperature has been sneaking towards double digits (even reaching it on occasion), the sun has been out and shining brightly, and the snow has been melting.
Today it's swung in a different direction; we've woken up to gray and rainy. That's okay, though. I don't mind gray and rainy on Sunday, as long as I wasn't planning on going anywhere and have the luxury of sitting in my den with a cup of coffee, writing and listening to the rain drumming against the window-pane. Which I am.
Things To Remember
"You know, just because you can take words and put them together in a sentence that makes sense, doesn't mean you're right." - TeamHooking
Yeah, But The Original Sucked
The original run of Battlestar Galactica has special effects that hold up really, really well, considering how old it is. Too bad about the plotting, writing, and acting.
I really liked the music from the Star Trek trailer. When I found out it was from the Children of Dune miniseries, I went and downloaded the album, and really enjoyed it. Which got me watching the Dune miniseries again. Not the David Lynch one that is long and makes no sense, but the newer one with William Hurt that's long and makes sense if you've read the book, and maybe even if you haven't but I can't really judge that because I've read the book, like, a dozen times.
Contingency Planning
My hope that our Shadowrun game will come through with the planned GM is fading, but in the event that it doesn't I've volunteered the run the game, and as I prepare adventures and characters and such, my excitement level about doing so is increasing. It's been forever since I ran a game, but man, it was fun.
We'll need to recruit more players though, as 3 is enough for a group in a pinch but not if one of them is the GM.
Luck of the Amish
The Amish Bread batter is making the rounds. Think of it as the bread batter equivalent of a chain letter. This time my lovely wife and her fellow bakers are exchanging all sorts of interesting recipe variants. The Greek was quite taken with the idea of chocolate chip banana, but I have to go with lemon cranberry. Mmmmmmmm.
Batchelorette
Last night was Elizabeth's (of Elizabeth and Wayne) batchelorette. My lovely wife and TeamHooking both were in attendance, as was the CBC and other people I don't have soubriquettes for. As a result, I went over to the Rocket's place and we drank beer, ate pizza and watched movies (SWAT, The Count of Monte Cristo, and Conan the Barbarian).
What happens at the batchelorette stays at the batchelorette.
They need to make another Conan movie. A good one, not like the sequel that sucked.
Losing the Plot
There's no coherent thread to this blog post. It's that sort of a day.
I'm going to go back to watching Dune and looking at the internets. I'll let you know if I see anything exciting.
