Saturday evening my lovely wife and I met up with my Partner in Crime, Mr. Kent, and his lovely girlfriend, whom we were meeting for the first time. We ate some good Chinese food downtown and then went to a game-place whose name I am presently forgetting. I discovered that, should my lovely wife realize her oft-expressed desire for an air hockey table, I probably wouldn't be seen for a while thereafter. That is a fun game, and pretty straightforward once I realized it was basically just analog Pong.
Then we went to see Die Hard 4. I enjoyed it greatly. There were bits that were, possibly, a little over the top, but then, it's a Die Hard movie, right? The action sequences were very cool, the dialogue was funny and sparkly, and the whole package was very entertaining.
Canada Day
We turned up at The Rocket and Team Hooking's palatial estate for Canada Day celebrations. We spent some time at the barbeque with the man himself and then hung out and ate our souvlaki wraps (I got asked if I were Greek in reaction to the layout of wraps, pork souvlaki, onion, tomato and tzatziki). We departed as sunset seemed imminent, but promised we'd be calling The Rocket when our next event was concluded to, and I quote, "drink until the sun comes up".
The next event was the Canada Day party at the Singer's, attended by RJA and his sister as well as Serdic and the Singer and a bunch of pleasant folk I hadn't previously met. Snacks were eaten, drinks were consumed, and we enjoyed a strategically placed balcony to view the fireworks, which were as impressive as ever. It was a little past midnight when we bid our hosts adieu. A most excellent party!
We went back to The Rocket and Team Hooking's place after that. Drinks were drunk and Lilo & Stitch was watched. It was about half past four when we finally arrived home, the sun just beginning to light up the eastern sky. Mission accomplished.
Monday
Not a whole lot happened on Monday, tired as we were from the previous day's activities. Notably we cooked up a monstrous hunk of prime rib on the barbeque and then followed it with my lovely wife's rhubarb crumble, which was beyond amazing.
I could really get used to this whole five-day-weekend thing ...
