Status Update

I need a haircut.

I began suffering from a pretty bad allergic reaction to something last night. Didn't get much sleep, too busy not breathing. As a result I took a half day today. Other than being short of breath and occasionally dizzy, and typical allergy-sinus issues, I'm doing better now.

Buying Stuff

Last weekend we spent an unfortunate amount of money. Among other things I picked up seasons 5 and 6 of Star Trek: TNG, since I'm working my way through season 2 at a steady pace. We also got ER 3 and 4; we just finished our borrowed copy of ER season 2 and thought we'd just keep going.

I am a little irked by ER's tendency to just drop stuff in between seasons. Season 1 and 2 both ended with lots of balls in the air, and then the start of the next season barely mentions any of it. Things are either dropped summarily with no explanation or they get a cursory explanation and are quickly forgotten about. Grr.

Pirates!

Last weekend my lovely wife and I got in a game of Pirates. We opened up a few new ships; my lovely wife had the biggest ship in our collection, the 5-masted United States (my biggest was a 4). She picked up another 5, the Constitution; but I got a 6-master cursed pirate Chinese junk, which is pretty awesome.

I eked out a win on gold-points despite losing lots and lots of ships. Right now I'm mostly relying on the generally superior hold capacity of my ships; once my lovely wife gets a few ships which can carry more than a few pieces of gold each, I'm in real trouble.

Camping

We're off with Dougly and the CBC this weekend, enjoying nature (on our terms, naturally). Izzy is going to be joining us as well, which is exciting since she's a general non-camper and we've never had her out before.

Geekery

Got an order from the ever-efficient Sentry Box earlier this week, which rounds out my late war Canadians, Germans and Soviets, and includes a few things for my nascent 1940 Germans. I'm really looking forward to France 1940 games.

I also now have the parts for a few interesting conversions I've been planning. The most notable of these would be a pair of Flak38 on captured Universal Carriers for my Germans. I'll include pics once we've got something to take pictures of.
