Race For The Cup

Off to the Corel Center on Monday for a standing-room-only view of game 3. The standing area is actually rather nice, with a good view of the ice. Good game, only slightly marred by drunken idiots starting fights.

The Sabres eked out a win tonight, and thankfully the wailing and moaning has been limited, although it has been present. I really don't understand how a 3-1 series lead over the team with the best regular-season record in the NHL this season is a bad thing, but apparently it's the end of the world for certain people.

Guys, winning the Stanley Cup isn't easy. That's why it means something.

Geekery

130-odd unit cards done, including all of the German ones, 85 of them. The Germans seem to really love producing lots and lots of variants of things. I had to do, like, eight different SdKfz 251 variants, and that's leaving out anything that's a functional duplicate, and all the signals and command vehicles, which aren't in scope for this game. Seriously, guys.

Also going back and working on painting my vehicles. I'm speccing out what I'll need to have fieldable late-war European theater Germans and Canadians. Mostly there, especially for the Canucks. I also have large quantities of Soviets.

Incidentally, American suspensions are harder to paint than Soviet suspensions, at least in my admittedly limited experience. Both are, however, easier to paint than German suspensions, which I suspect was a contributing factor to the ultimate result of that conflict.

I'm working on plans for a dedicated Normandy board, because I love bocage. I'm funny that way.

Visit From the Family

Mothership, KGB and Wolfgang were up today, pursuant to KGB's efforts to be able to return to our neighbour to the south. They brought along the new puppy, who is ridiculously cute. We gave out Mother's Day and delayed birthday presents and ate Wendy's.

Apparently there are personages who do not approve of Wolfgang becoming a Sens fan. I'm not sure exactly what team they'd prefer he root for, although I suspect that team wears blue and white. Which just wouldn't work out, really, because Wolfgang, as far as I know, isn't that into golf.

They also leant us seasons 1 and 2 of ER. Cool.

Jambalayah

I have no idea how to spell that word. Regardless, my lovely wife made some, and it was super-yummy.

Inopportune Meterology

It's been gray, rainy, and cold. That sucks. I do not approve.
