Ruminations on a Thursday

Ahoy to one and all, and all our ships at sea.

Geekery

Remember the Shadowrun cards I bought on Ebay? The ones which got shipped UPS instead of USPS, and UPS wanted me to pay more to them than I had for the cards in the first place, and then the guy ate the cost difference and re-shipped them to me for no additional charges? He mentioned he was going to throw in a few extra starters for my trouble.

Yeah, he threw in a few extra starters. An extra box of starters. That's 10 decks, 700 cards, gratis. That's about 2,500 cards. Yikes.

So I've been organizing and sorting like mad. I finished with them tonight, and built 5 decks -- samurai with guns, gangers with guns, mages, shamen and riggers. Can't wait to give it a try.

Television

CSI is a great way to waste time.

Hot As Hell

I'm not super impressed with this 30+ degree weather, but at least it's not cold. And, bonus, I didn't get rained on biking home. I was wondering for a minute there.

Ducks and Sens

So the Red Wings are out, and the Ducks are in. Going to be an exciting series. Things are going to get crazy in this town. Ok, crazy-er.

Gardening

We -- ok, my lovely wife, mostly -- spent a lot of time last year ripping up the front lawn, due to its overwhelming weed population and relative scarcity of grass of any kind. We filled it in with earth (hat tip to our awesome neighbour for that) and seeded before snowfall last year.

There's all kinds of grass coming in now. It has a definite green tinge to it. It's very heartening.

ER

We've started watching season 1 of ER, provided on DVD by the parental units. Good show.

Arby's

Why doesn't Ottawa have an Arby's? This is simply unacceptable.

I just wanted to get that out there.
