A Man of Good Breeding and Exquisite Taste

Chronological Observances

I got a notification in the mail that I have to renew my plates. That means that I have, or soon will have, had my new car for a year. A year!

Events

I met up with RJA at a local Starbucks for coffee. I think he enjoyed that I ordered a bog-standard black coffee to accompany the foam-laden Euro monstrocity he had selected for himself. We drank coffee, discussed weddings and in-wall speakers and games, and generally had a good time.

I enjoy that he now lives here in civilization with the rest of us.

Also, he mentioned that he would be going to his sister's wedding, something which I believe he feels to be a bit of a defeat in some abstract fashion. I took the opportunity to remind him that it is the nature of woman to remind man of his place in this way, and he might as well get used to it.

Travel

Getting all my ducks in a row for India. Angel is still very put out about my refusal to import her an elephant. But, you know, that's how it goes.

I have 2 weeks of work and 1 week of not work, and then off I go. Foom.

Other Festivities

The Partner in Crime is getting hitched! Woo!

Winter Is Coming

Sadly, it is. Ol' Eddard Stark was right, the bastard. I'm not ready.

This summer was just a huge mash and went by entirely too fast. I am unready to accept that this is just how things go now. I refuse, I tell you.

Oh, and I need a haircut. Too much stuff to get done.

Pointless Links

This made me laugh. Briefly, in the manner of twitter.

This came up at work today. It's an oldie, but a goodie. Remember to read it "Most Helpful First".

People Are Retarded

Dear parents: Before you start complaining about how wi-fi is making your kids sick, please study up on the inverse square law, the placebo effect, the general history of mass hysteria, cognitive biases, and the electromagnetic field output of your typical microwave. Then shut the hell up about it because you are an idiot.

Honestly.

Plate renewal comes at your birthday, not the anniversary of your car's registration.

I enjoyed my cappuccino.

Oh, I'm aware of that, but in this instance the anniversary of my car's registration closely approximates my birthday.
