Prologue
My previous blog post was post number 333.
You will forgive me if this blog post is somewhat scatter-shot; my wife is preparing chili, and so I am understandably distracted.
Star Trek
I have finished season 6 of DS9. I now must wait for S7. This show is awesome.
If I didn't mention it, episode 6 of season 6 was when it officially became better than Babylon 5, long since having proven itself the finest of the Star Treks.
Metaphorically Speaking
The parental-units-in-law visited recently and filled up a bottle with home-made wine. I was going to finish off the bottle tonight but it had descended into the murky depths of vinegar-dom. That was the point at which I noticed that the bottom of the metal wine bottle topper had been corroded noticeably, outer layers eaten away like deck plating beneath the feet of a wounded Alien xenomorph.
Makes you wonder what the hell we were drinking.
Those Amazing Men and their Flying Machines
We went to the airshow today. Unfortunately, this was a poor choice of day for an airshow.
The weather was gray and rainy and the ceiling was low. They had a stunt pilot who was quite good, and fly-bys by an CF-18 and an Aurora, but other than that it was mostly just about the static displays. They were pretty good -- Avenger, B-25, a USAF Reserve Herc. There was also a Sea King, of which much fun was made. (Some static displays are more static than others, and so forth.)
Despite the poor weather, we had a good time. When we got home we partook in a Warm Hug on a Cold Day (that being RJA's euphemism for hot chocolate).
If the weather improves we may take another pass at it tomorrow. I, for one, would like to see a C-17.
Stripper Boots
The Rocket and I recently checked out the new Moxie's in Kanata. The executive summary is that it is larger and somewhat more expensive than the one in Bayshore, but the eye candy is about at par.
We had a discussion about TeamHooking's objection to the hiring practices at Moxie's. I expressed bafflement that anyone would object to menial low-paying work being apportioned preferentially to people on the basis of gender and appearance, when there is so much lucrative, high-profile work being apportioned (or denied) on the basis of gender and appearance.
They can have their job greeting customers and showing them to their table. Honestly, it's okay. Somehow the world will survive this horrible injustice.
Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
Just go read it for yourself.
I Roll Natural 20s
The guys from Penny Arcade and PVP are promoting the new 4th Edition of D&D by recording a podcast of a gaming session they have partaken in. If you didn't know about it, go do some googling and give it a listen. It's funny as hell. It also kinda makes me want to play D&D again, which is, one supposes, the point.
The Greek's European Tour
He's done with work and shortly they will be embarking upon their grand voyage. Go look at his blog (over there, on the sidebar -->) for details. I miss them already.
