Television
We're getting to the end of the last season of the West Wing. It's all very emotional.
We recently watched the Stargate season 7 episode "Heroes". It starts with a behind-the-scenes documentary type setup, and that never works out well. I would have told you that nobody had ever done an episode like that well. Not even MASH, which (as far as I know) invented the concept -- although at least when they did it, it had the benefit of novelty.
Having come to the end of this particular episode, it's probably the best episode of Stargate I've seen yet.
The writer part of my brain saw it coming, but I didn't think they would actually do it like that, so it was still a hell of a surprise.
It's a little funny that we watched Heroes one night and then an emotionally intense episode of the West Wing the next night. I joked that tonight we should watch the Buffy episode when her mom dies, and then Sleeping in Light from B5 for a kicker.
Deep Space 9
I'm downloading (gasp!) and watching DS9. I skipped it when it was first on; the first season wasn't very involving, as I recall. I think, in retrospect, that I was missing out. It has a very un-Star Trek kind of atmosphere. The writing is very good and very different and it has a unique sense of humour.
I'm enjoying it.
Acquisitions
There's a World of Warcraft card game which is, a little surprisingly, quite good. It's so much like Magic it hurts, but it's got a few tweaks that give it a different set of problems and decisions.
They include special loot cards in their booster boxes with codes that you can scratch and enter in the computer game to gain special things. I don't really understand it, and really don't care, but I got one which is selling on ebay for low hundreds of dollars.
Ka-ching!
Plans
Things are in motion!
Out West
We've booked our flights for our trip out west in the bottom half of May. Time will be spent with Red and with the Alberta branch of the family, including the newest member thereof (who as yet has not been given a blog soubriquet).
That'll be a great trip. Really looking forward to it.
Meterology
The weather continues fair, although it looks to be a little chillier next week. There's even something on the forecast about snow?
No sir, I don't like it one bit.
