Saw this on Singer's blog. I can't help myself. I'm shameless.
1) What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Lots of things. Climbed the CN Tower. Went to Training Camp. It'd be hard to pick just one.
2) Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make resolutions (or at least, not specifically at New Year's).
3) Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, a member of the extended family did, and I have more family and a few friends who are expecting any time now. Must be something in the water.
4) Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully, no.
5) What countries did you visit?
I visited the fine state of Maryland, in the United States of Vespucciland, to attend my sister's wedding.
6) What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Free Time -- 2007 was a wonderful year, but holy cow, was it busy.
7) What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
There are many. 21 September, leaving a job where I made friends I'll have for the rest of my life. 24 September, starting a job that I really, really wanted. 14 December, my first surprise birthday party.
8) What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting that new job? Doing things like the CN Tower Climb or Training Camp, that (once upon a time) I never would have even thought of trying? If I'd managed to finish my novel then that would have been a big one, but I didn't quite get it in under the wire.
9) What was your biggest failure?
It's only a failure if you don't learn from it.
10) Did you suffer illness or injury?
I was sick a lot. I hurt my leg towards the end of the year, which has derailed my martial arts activities. That has sucked.
11) What was the best thing you bought?
For me? iPod Touch! Overall? I have a few xmas presents in mind here, particularly things I got my lovely wife. If I had to pick just one -- my lovely wife's new set of pots, because they make her happy.
12) Whose behavior merited celebration?
If I have to pick just one person, I'm picking Serdic, for the things he achieved physically, mentally, and in his life. He did some amazing things this year and he did them because he decided that he would, and then did. That's a pretty remarkable thing.
13) Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Can't think of anyone in particular.
14) Where did most of your money go?
Buying presents!
15) What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I'm an excitable guy, it'd be hard to pick just one thing. In terms of anticipation? Probably Training Camp. In terms of being excited during it? My surprise birthday party.
16) What song will always remind you of 2007?
I'm not a song-association type person. Couldn't say.
17) Compared to this time last year, are you:
- happier or sadder?
Happier.
- thinner or fatter?
At the moment, fatter (see Leg, Injured).
- richer or poorer?
Richer.
18) What do you wish you'd done more of?
Spending quiet time with my wife.
19) What do you wish you'd done less of?
Putting off things.
20) How did you spend Christmas?
With family, mostly while wearing piggy slippers.
21) Did you fall in love in 2007?
I was already in love. I stayed that way.
22) How many one-night stands?
Zero
23) What was your favorite TV program?
My favourite show that I discovered in 2007 -- Stargate? Was that this year? I have no concept of the passage of time.
24) Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Negative.
25) What was the best book you read?
That's a tough one. I just finished Right Side Up, it was fantastic. I'm reading William Gibson's new book, and it's ... well, it's Gibson, right?
26) What was your greatest musical discovery?
I'm always discovering music, because I have no head or memory for it.
27) What did you want and get?
Peace, health and happiness.
28) What did you want and not get?
World domination.
29) What was your favorite film of this year?
Didn't see a lot of movies in the theater.
30) What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 30. My actual birthday, I didn't do much; watched a movie, played some games, drank champagne and orange juice. Mostly I just enjoyed the day and my family.
31) What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
See above, re: World Domination.
32) How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
I have no fashion concept.
33) What kept you sane?
Who are you calling sane?
34) Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Well, Amanda Tapping made The List.
35) What political issue stirred you the most?
Probably Afghanistan.
36) Who did you miss?
KGB and Red, sisters who are far away.
37) Who was the best new person you met?
I was lucky enough to meet a bunch of new people, and (almost) all of them were well worth knowing.
38) Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
The biggest problem people have is convincing themselves that they can't do things. If you believe you can do it, you can do it.
39) Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
I don't retain song lyrics. Sorry. Not how my brain works.
