Scheduled Outage at 4 PM

Wheels

The arrival of our sweet new ride was slightly delayed. As such, wanting to be helpful, the guys at the dealership have given us a fully loaded 2008 Explorer for the week. Better yet, we aren't paying for the gas on that thing. (Take all the time you need, boys.)

We go to pick up the new vehicle at noon today. I'm very excited.

Family

My lovely wife's parents, her sister and husband, and Happy Baby all came to stay with us last Friday. It was awesome having them around, as always. Happy Baby is, well, super happy. Some very fine meals were concocted and the old man's birthday was celebrated with verve and panache.

Curling

We are off to curling tonight. I'm excited about that, too.

RJA

I proposed NGO-SO for RJA's new squeeze, but he has requested it be shortened to NGO. Let it be forever thus.

I like her. I think I managed not to offend her. Dinner with them and with the Musii was a lot of fun.

I can't say that I recommend Moxie's lamb shank though. Their steaks are much better, just go with that to get your caveman food fix.

Game Night

All I have to say about game night is the following:

1. It was suggested that we podcast game night, although we would certainly have to use pseudonyms to protect the guilty.

2. Game night at Optimist Prime's house always ends up with a specific type of humour.

3. Go to youtube and look up eagles dropping goats off cliffs. Oh my god.

4. When you make a song reference and somebody incorrectly guesses Nine Inch Nails, when in fact it is Cher, the correct thing to do is pretend that person is right. Singing a Cher song is never the right thing to do. Ever.

TV

I got a TV.

A friend of mine was looking to sell his one year old, 55" Sony HD rear projection TV for about a third of what it would cost to go buy one right now at the Sony store.

I can do that math.

Stargate

The series finale of SG1 is exactly, perfectly what you want for a series finale. It is episodic, and inventive, clever, dramatic, and completely, deliberately focused on the characters and their relationship, in the way that the show itself is all of those things.

That is how it is done.
