Gullible Is Such A Strong Word

Surprise!

I had a surprise birthday party on Friday.

This is not something that I have ever been able to say before. (Not specifically because of the part about Friday, just in general.) I always had fun on my birthday, but it was a smaller and more family sort of thing than the birthdays of a lot of people I know. That's just a consequence of having your birthday in the middle of the holiday season. Just the way it is.

So I really didn't know how to react when everybody I knew yelled 'surprise' at me when I came through the door on Friday night. And by everybody, I mean, everybody.

My lovely wife, I found out later, had been planning this for quite some time, and had enlisted just about all of my friends in her conspiracy. Along with her parents she prepared an unbelievable quantity of food and carried out innumerable other preparations, all right under my nose and without giving me the slightest clue that anything was going on.

I had an amazing night in the company of family and good friends.

Thank you to everyone who came, everyone who helped out, and everyone who managed to keep it a complete secret.

That was just ... amazing.

Weather

The weather has gotten a little ridiculous hereabouts. Before Sunday, the one-day record snowfall in Ottawa was a little over 30cm. On Sunday, the airport got 37cm. Some parts of the valley got 50cm or more. That's well over a foot and a half of snow for our Metrically challenged friends. And, y'know, we already had enough of it to go around.

The snow pile on my lawn goes up to the bottom branches of my tree. That's a good 8 feet high. You could easily hide a car under there and nobody would know, and by car I mean Mr. KGB's truck, the Mongo of the automotive world.

I spent an hour and a half shovelling on Monday and I only got about half done. Then the snowplough guy filled it in again. Fucker.

We're not even through December yet. This shit is crazy. Global warming? Al Gore can kiss my ass.

Prime's Car

Enough with the emails already! I know that we've whipped you all up into a frenzy of anticipation, but enough already.

Here, then, is the world internet exclusive picture of Optimist's Prime car.

World Internet Exclusive.
