Hockey
I want to see Montreal lose for many reasons, but I have to admit that one of them is definitely the fact that they do that stupid ole song at the drop of a hat.
Ottawa's done. Other things are more propitious, however - the Caps, Sharks and Canucks are all doing well, Montreal and Buffalo aren't, and Toronto didn't even get into the post season. So, all is mostly right with the world.

A San Jose police horse. Awesome.
Fourty Pounds And a Beer
Thet weekend before last and through the first part of last week, my lovely wife was working long hours and then going off to play curling games during the end of year tournament at her club. They had a good run but lost on Tuesday, which she wasn't terribly put out about given that Wednesday was the 10-ender marathon final and she just wanted to get some sleep.
So on Wednesday we went to the club to watch the game, and also hockey. They brought in 40 pounds of chicken wings, which were awesome, and there were door prizes. And by 'there were door prizes' I mean that there were 75 door prizes and about 90 attendees. Everybody got a prize because anybody who didn't got free bags of chips (and good chips too).
I got called early and took the most kingly of prizes, a Beer Bucket. It consisted of a steel bucket and a variety of Heritage branded products including 3 beers, pint and pilsner glasses, coasters, a churchkey and a t-shirt. Even better, my lovely wife got selected later on and got me a Moosehead t-shirt.
I think I now have enough beer t-shirts to do an entire week on that theme. Can, and will, my friend.
On Thursday was the end of season dinner. T-bone steaks grilled on charcoal outdoors. Mmmmm.
Then on the weekend was Caribbean food, board games, and on Saturday, watching the hockey game at the Lieutenant's Pump on the Mile. Good times and good friends, even though the game didn't end the way any right thinking folk would want.
Divisive Politics
I wrote a big rant about political things that annoyed me with their stupidity, but, you know, whatever. The Federal government is a bad idea, but I don't think that's news to anybody who has been paying attention.
Shopping, Viewing, and the Other Fundamental Duties of the Modern Consumer
I got all of Deep Space Nine for a ridiculous sum on Amazon. I am very excited about this, as it is undeniably the finest of the Star Treks.
We also recently watched Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. Highly recommended, even if only for the moments of pure culture-shock disbelief at West Virginia.
I can't help but notice that amazon.ca is selling the same book for 35% more than amazon.com. Look, assholes, the dollar is at par. $1 = $1. Enough of this horse shit. They're in the internet business, you'd think they'd realize that people can do the math.
I am otherwise quite pleased with the meteoric rise of the dollar. Everything is cheaper on the internet, huzzah.
Okay Then
I got to go chop up some chicken and marinate it in hooch. Later.
