Dinner
Met up with Rocket and TeamHooking for dinner at the Glen the other day. The food and excellent beer were about as good as usual but the service was surprisingly crappy. It's possible this was related to us being in the unpopular half of the restaurant but it just didn't seem like there were as many staff on hand as their ought to have been.
Good to meet up with them though. The arrival of The Rockette is imminent so it might be a bit before we enjoy their company again.
That imminence is a bit of a thing, too.
Hardware
I set up my new external drive enclosure and pulled a ton of old files off of some drives I had kicking around. Oh, ancient and all but forgotten media. We hardly knew ye.
I need to get my desktop up and running as this whole laptop thing isn't so hot. I did, however, upgrade my video driver so it would stop intermittently forgetting that 1600 x 1080 is a valid resolution.
I also discovered that a DVD is possibly stranded in the drive of my desktop. Since the Greek should be hooking me up with a new power supply in the near future, I'm not going to attempt any heroic measures to retrieve it.
Beer
I like beer.
Games and Stuff
Vampire night is very healthy at the moment, with the addition of a key new face and the enthusiasm of some old ones.
Magic is losing a bit of its allure for me right now. I could just need a break. I don't think it helps that they haven't been designing or marketing it to me for quite some time now. I enjoy playing it but even with good players there are definitely games that just aren't much fun, and the direction of the game is trending towards making those sorts of games more likely. I would never go to a tournament because I'd end up beating a guy with a binder of cards for thinking his ally deck was clever.
I need to get a copy of Dominion because it's super awesome and fun.
I haven't tried the Chinese Historical Nepotism Game that Dougly and the CBC got me. I also have yet to try out a game which gets bonus points for flavour (pardon the pun) -- Wasabi, the wacky and exciting board game of sushi preparation. No, really.
Weather
I like it. Global warming, eat your heart out.
Star Trek
The new star trek movie is awesome. I'm also working my way through the old ones, courtesy of the exciting Classic Movies Blue-Ray set my lovely wife got me. Next up, Episode 5: Shatner Ruins the Franchise.
Hardware Part 2
Blue-Ray has an 'e' in it. It possibly could lose the hyphen, but definitely not the vowel.
This is my hill and I will die on it.
