Greetings once more from lovely sun-kissed Carriacou.
Just logging in for a quick status update. Went for a scuba-dive on Christmas eve. There is a certain irony to coming all the way to Carriacou to dive with a guy from Quebec who used to teach in the same quarry I did my advanced diver cert in. The reef we dove on was amazing; clear blue water and a rock face that sloped down into the deeps, filled with coral, fishies, and sundry other creatures of interest. It was a blast but completely wiped me out. I made it an early night and slept soundly.
Christmas day we got up early -- early-ish -- and exchanged gifts. I got a bunch of exciting things, a few of them very unexpected. Some of them exceptionally so. We called up my lovely wife's side of the family and then my own to wish everybody a happy Christmas. We went snorkelling and looked at the coral, and then were joined by a boater from Trenton of my in-laws' association over for Christmas dinner. Turkey, stuffing, corn, mashed potatoes, cranberries and gravy. I do not understand how my lovely wife's mother manages to pull that off with an oven the size of a breadbox and a kitchen that would fit comfortably under my kitchen table, but she did.
The drinks and good times went on fairly far into the night before everyone stumbled to bed.
Boxing day was fairly quiet. My lovely wife and her mom went for a trek over the hill, and got some pictures of themselves with Aloe plants that could do a passable Triffid impersonation. I sat on the boat and read a book. Today we took the dinghy out for a long snorkel over some very nice coral. I'm working on my tan and only getting burnt a little here and there, to which I can only credit the fact that my lovely wife and her folks are all intent on reminding me to put on the damn sunscreen already.
We'll be heading back to Grenada proper before my birthday. That's about all that we have planned out so far. Everything is proceeding on Caribbean Time, and I quite approve.
